Cause:
Although not all AOL customers have had this issue, we have reported instance of few customers who are using an AOL Email account with a special AOL version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer, this is something to do with settings of AOL.
Firstly, if you have Links and Images disabled, even when you click to activate links and show images, the link remains disabled.
Secondly, when you copy and paste the link to Internet Explorer Address box, AOL will attempt to open the link using the AOL browser build into Internet Explorer, but for some reason the web page does not open.
Solution:
The following work around will get the download started without meddling with the AOL settings.
- Copy and paste the full download link to the Internet Explorer Address bar
- When you get a first message box for file download, 'Save' the download HTML file on your desktop (This should only take 10-30 seconds)
- Right click on the HTML file saved on your desktop to open the local menu
- On the local menu, select 'Open With' and Choose Program, select Internet Explorer.
- Download web page will now open, follow the instructions on that page to download a Setup file.
